Stevens recounts his early life and education at George Whitefield's "Georgia Orphan House," his apprenticeship in Charleston, his marriage and family, and his service as a soldier in and around Charleston and elsewhere during the Revolutionary War, describing the Battle of Fort Moultrie and the siege of Charleston.
